Position Summary:

Position: Physician Assistant, PAC, Advanced Practice Provider, APP, Midlevel Provider
Status: Pool, PRN, Per-Diem
Exciting Interventional Spine opportunity at the OrlandoHealth/Jewett Orthopedic Institute! 100% clinical role, M-F, no weekends or holidays. Looking for an experienced NP or PA in either interventional spine and/or pain management (this role WILL NOT be responsible for chronic pain management). Physician is very excited and willing to teach, looking for someone ready to step into the challenge!

In August 2023 we opened our new orthopedic complex, located on Orlando Health’s downtown campus. The 375,000-square-foot facility will feature a medical pavilion and a full-service orthopedic hospital.
The state-of-the-art orthopedic hospital will be the only facility of its kind in Florida. It will include 75 inpatient rooms and 10 operating suites, four of which are virtually connected operating suites that can be used to train surgeons around the world. The adjacent medical pavilion has outpatient clinics; an imaging suite that offers the most advanced imaging, including virtual reality; and an ambulatory surgery center with 12 operating rooms and three procedure rooms. The 7th floor will be the home to the Research and Innovation center which will include a BioSkills lab as well as a 116 seat auditorium and conference room spaces. Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute also trains future orthopedic specialists through the graduate medical education program. The Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeonsranks Orlando Health’s orthopedic residency fourth in the United States.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions
  • Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
  • Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment; works collaboratively to formulate treatment plans.
  • Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission and discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols.
  • Initiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of patients.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Demonstrates caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care.
  • Dictates and documents an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains provision of preventive health services.
  • Conducts or participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Performs detailed history and physical examinations and documents inpatient H & P and discharge summaries (Must be reviewed and countersigned by supervising medical staff member within 24 hours and may not be substituted for physician H & P).
  • Writes or dictates reports and progress notes appropriately in the medical record,
  • Triages patients.
  • Shares clinical expertise with professional and supportive personnel and collaborates with other healthcare disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education/Training
Graduate of accredited physician assistant program.

Licensure/Certification
  • Current licensure in State of Florida renewed every two years to include prescriptive authority.
  • Maintains NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
  • Maintains BLS certification.
    • Maintains ACLS, NRP, PALS certification as required by department.
