Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician’s Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN to join our healthcare team. This person’s primary duty will be to provide assistance in the operating room to practice’s neurosurgeons. Other responsibilities will be providing backup assistance for the neurosurgeon on-call. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. This is a hospital-based position.

This individual will require the ability to be flexible and work in a high-pressure environment as part of a team of five.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all equipment is sterile and ready for use.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and assist with physical examinations pre- and post-surgery.
  • Conduct patient assessments to gather relevant medical history and current health status.
  • Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and patient care activities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Requirements

  • Experience as a surgical assistant or in a related healthcare role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of patient care standards and surgical procedures.
  • Ability to assess vital signs accurately and perform physical examinations.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and medical staff.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program or Master’s degree as a Physician’s Assistant
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician’s Assistant (PA)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in the OR is strongly preferred
  • Experience in either neurosurgery or orthopedics is desired
