Position Overview:

Physician Assistants (PAs) support Physicians and other key medical staff to complete medical diagnoses and key procedures & laboratory studies. In this role, you will work directly with other medical staff to diagnose and treat our patients at a high quality of care across our core procedures. A high-quality PA must be detail oriented, organized, and have an in-depth knowledge of medical procedures and equipment in this specialty.

This role will be based at our re-opened Biscayne location with onboarding starting in early to mid February. As a part of this role, you must know how to maintain safety in the workplace and handle emergency situations efficiently. You additionally must be willing to ensure a great deal of walking and/or standing for long periods of time during a busy patient-flow day.

Key responsibilities:

  • Interpret and correlate subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnosis and establish a working diagnosis
  • Formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for patients, dictate discharge summaries, histories and physicals
  • Performing procedures such as (but not limited to) digital blocks, regional anesthesia, and minor outpatient surgical procedures such as (but not limited to) tendon repair, wound closure, wound management, wound debridement, and incision and drainage
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including (but not limited to) joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, and injections of joints, tendons, trigger points and bursa
  • Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces and other orthopedic devices as may be allowed by state legislation
  • Deliver good judgment on next steps on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals
  • Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens

Qualifications:

  • Be a graduate of a physician assistant training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs or its successor organization, as per the state of Florida
  • Passed the proficiency examination administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Hold a current certificate issued by the NCCPA and a CPR certification
  • Completed 10 hours of CME in the specialty practice (allopathic/osteopathic)
  • Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology
  • Ability to work all assigned shifts (could include day, evening, and weekend hours as needed)
  • Ability to escort or transport patient by wheelchair when appropriate
  • Intermediate-to-high computer skills including experience with electronic medical records
  • Have strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) for working with orthopedic patients and physicians/surgeon
  • Work and act with integrity and a high degree of autonomy & self-sufficiency

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55.00 – $65.00 per hour
