Full Job Description

The mid-level provider collaborates with the physician and other health care professionals to provide medical services including direct patient care, medical record documentation and follow-up care to inpatients and outpatients. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner operates within the standards of care and scope of practice as defined by the State of Florida.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Performs comprehensive and interval history and physical exams of patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal problems. Identifies differential diagnoses, assesses the severity of the patients illness and establishes priorities of care for the presenting problem
  • Assists in the development of a treatment plan and appropriate follow up care
  • Communicates pertinent patient information to the covering physician • Educates the patient about the diagnosis and treatment plan
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests
  • Obtains informed consent for all procedures
  • Exercises prescriptive authority as outlined in Florida statutes
  • Documents patient visit appropriately in the electronic medical record (EMR) and/or according to the guidelines established by each individual location in which the care is provided
  • Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPPA requirements
  • Keeps current on new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or other training and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice

Minimum requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
  • Nurse Practitioners: current license or eligible for licensure to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber in Florida
  • Physician Assistants: must be NCCPA (National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants) certified or eligible; and licensed or eligible for licensure by the Medical Examining Board(s) in Florida
  • DEA number
  • CPR certification
  • Maintains a safe work environment
  • Knowledge of MSDS and Bloodborne pathogens

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year

  • Weekends as needed
