Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history reviews, utilizing your anatomy and physiology knowledge in gastroenterology and dermatology.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to document findings accurately and efficiently.
- Administer injections, manage airway procedures, and assist with suturing and other minor surgical interventions following aseptic techniques.
- Provide acute pain management, triage patients in emergency room or urgent care settings, and coordinate care for complex cases such as ICU or Level I/II trauma center patients.
- Support hospital medicine teams by managing inpatient care plans, discharging patients safely through discharge planning, and collaborating on post-acute care strategies.
- Engage in clinical research and clinical trials to contribute to evidence-based practices; collect data for quality improvement initiatives and research projects.
- Utilize CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
- Manage ventilator settings, perform catheterizations like cardiac catheterization or spinal taps, and oversee infectious disease care protocols.
- Participate in telehealth consultations to extend access to specialized care; support health coaching and patient education efforts across various populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal units, and hospice & palliative medicine.
Qualifications
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification from the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
- Proven experience in hospital settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers (Level I/II), or medical-surgical units.
- Strong proficiency with EMR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms; experience with medical imaging and radiology reports is a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in performing physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS).
- Critical care experience including ventilator management, airway management techniques, and ICU procedures preferred.
- Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for documentation accuracy; experience with medical records management is essential.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques; experience in infectious disease care or radiation therapy is advantageous.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations efficiently while maintaining compassionate patient interactions across outpatient clinics or inpatient units.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong understanding of medical terminology; capable of collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Additional skills that enhance your candidacy include telehealth experience, clinical research participation, hospital experience in nursing homes or home care settings, and familiarity with DME (Durable Medical Equipment), DME management. Pay: $111,547.80 – $134,337.14 per year
