Full Job Description

Jacksonville Hearing and Balance Institute (JHBI) is a medical practice specializing in improving hearing and balance health through proper diagnosis and advanced treatment options. Established in 1997 by J. Douglas Green Jr., M.D., we specialize in ear disorders only, so that we can provide comprehensive, top-quality care of the auditory system in adults and children from the ear canal to the brain’s cortex. Our Doctors of Audiology work closely with Dr. Green and PAs to provide state-of-the-art care and treatment for patients with hearing loss and vestibular conditions.

WHY JHBI?

Our PAs also have the opportunity to be involved with Hearing Help for Africa, a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Green to improve ear-related medical conditions for Africans by expanding medical education opportunities for African physicians.

Our PAs have the opportunity to assist with annual player and coaching hearing screenings for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Our PAs have the opportunity to assist with community lectures to increase awareness regarding inner ear related conditions.

Physician Assistant Job Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and maintains patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
  • Contributes to a physician’s efficiency by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues.
  • Recommends options and courses of action for patient care.
  • Implements physician directives.
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examinations, including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
  • Determines abnormal conditions by ordering diagnostic tests, such as hearing and vestibular tests, and interpreting test results.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; and enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experimental growth opportunities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program
  • State license
  • BLS certification
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • 4 years of ENT experience is prefferred ****
