Nurse Practitioner Job Description

Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and possess a strong background in primary care, acute care, and urgent care settings. This role involves providing high-quality medical care to patients, including children, while ensuring adherence to best practices in medication administration and patient management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ health status and develop individualized care plans.
  • Provide primary care services, including diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Administer medications and monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of services.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and wellness strategies.
  • Maintain accurate medical records using appropriate coding and medical terminology.
  • Respond to emergencies in the clinic or hospital setting as needed, utilizing basic life support skills.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with medical practices and advancements.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Proficiency in primary care practices, including medication administration and acute care management.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and coding practices.
  • Experience working with children in a healthcare setting is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as ER or urgent care settings.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds.
