Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient care across various medical settings, including hospital, outpatient, and specialty clinics. This role involves performing physical examinations, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, assisting in surgical procedures, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The Physician Assistant will utilize advanced EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate documentation and data management. Experience with diverse medical procedures including suturing, botulinum toxin treatments, ventilator management, and pain management is highly desirable. The role requires critical thinking, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments, including vital signs and medical histories.
  • Administer injections, perform suturing, manage airway with intubation or ventilator support, and assist with procedures like cardiac catheterization or spinal taps.
  • Manage medication administration including CPT coding and ICD coding for billing purposes.
  • Utilize EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters.
  • Participate in clinical research trials and data collection efforts to improve patient outcomes.
  • Provide patient education on health coaching, disease prevention, medication adherence, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control standards and aseptic techniques during procedures.
  • Support public health initiatives through screening programs or community outreach efforts.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant licensed to practice in the state of employment.
  • Proven experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; telehealth experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in procedures including suturing, injections, IV infusion management, phlebotomy, dialysis support, dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments preferred.
  • Experience working in hospital environments such as Level I/II trauma centers or critical care units (ICU/PICU/NICU).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, diagnostic evaluation techniques including radiology or medical imaging interpretation.
  • Familiarity with coding systems like CPT codes for procedures and ICD codes (ICD-9/10) for diagnoses; experience with medical records management is essential.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment across inpatient and outpatient settings.
