SW Florida General and Vascular Surgical practice in search of a Physician Assistant -NO CALL
JOB SUMMARY: This position provides physician support and assistance. Salary commensurate with speciality surgery experience.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:
· Ability and training to do physical assessment, take histories, assess and treat acute and chronic illnesses, interpret diagnostic data, and provide health education to patients
· Demonstrated organization skills, and ability to work independently and manage patient care issues
· Analytical skills in order to assess patients and implement appropriate intervention
· Must demonstrate a strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills, and have the ability to document the delivery of care in the patient’s health record
· Provide primary care to patients
· Collaborate with appropriate personnel regarding disease-specific information for patients and families and serves as resource to nursing staff and office staff
· Support and assist with physician’s schedules to improve patient flow as needed
· Support and assist with surgical procedures
· Review and interprets study results, seeking additional input as needed from physician
· Must simultaneously coordinate multiple issues and priorities while being available to provide direct patient care to patients
· Will perform AM weekend rounds approximately 1 weekend day per month
· Must demonstrate good working relations with peers, physicians, and other staff both in the office and hospital setting
· Evaluates, plans and provides care for patients in consultation with and under direct supervision of physicians
· Demonstration of strong interpersonal skills, including speaking and writing skills necessary. Possess ability to function independently and possess the ability to identify and manage patient care issues.
· Ability to manage time and schedule tasks
· Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the work environment as they relate to healthcare, etc.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
· Identify learning needs and develop methods for meeting goals
· Attend meetings to maintain/advance current knowledge base
· Maintain current certifications, including BLS
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
· One year first surgical assistant experience helpful, but not required
· Must have completed a surgical rotation in training
· General and/or vascular surgery experience helpful, but not required
REQUIRED LICENSES:
· Baccalaureate Degree
· Licensure to practice as a PA in the State of Florida
· Must have a Nat’l Provider Identifier, NPI, or obtain an NPI prior to employment start date
· Required to pass drug screen as pre-employment condition
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45.00 – $50.00 per hour
