Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Physician Assistant for a part-time position at a private HIV/AIDS and primary care/internal medicine practice, with a family-like work environment. Our practice objective is to provide high quality, personal and compassionate medical care to our patients.

You will undertake all aspects of health care including examining patients, treating acute and chronic conditions, and aiming for disease prevention and promotion of a healthy way of life. You must be very knowledgeable in regards to disease epidemiology and medical conditions to effectively interpret symptoms, test results, lab values, and diagnose physical findings.

  • HIV experience preferred
  • LGBTQ+ friendly
  • Familiar with STD treatment, prevention and counseling, including PrEP

Responsibilities

  • Manage care and treatment of patients with a broad array of acute and chronic conditions
  • Conduct patient assessments including physical exams and medical histories
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations and develop treatment plans
  • Review consultation reports, analyze and interpret test results
  • Prescribe medications and provide comprehensive instructions for administration
  • Order and perform diagnostic and screening tests as medically necessary
  • Refer patients to physicians in other specialties as warranted by medical conditions
  • Assist with patient intake, triage, injections and phlebotomy
  • Conduct annual well exams to assess patient’s health condition to discover possible issues and need for immunizations and associated screening tests based on age, gender and risk factors.
  • Give appropriate advice and counseling for healthy lifestyle choices and preventative actions to promote overall health
  • Perform detailed and accurate medical record documentation on same day services are provided.
  • Document and update physical assessments, medical history, surgeries, medications, and problem list in patient’s medical record
  • Collaborate with other physicians, nurses and staff to form a high performing medical team
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule
  • Complete administrative duties related to patient care
  • Render assistance and complete paperwork related to medical management of patients
  • Deliver high quality medical care with compassion and empathy of patient’s medical and emotional needs.
  • Participate in an interdisciplinary team providing care and coordination of our patients ensuring the highest level of care
  • Remain current with developments and best practices in medicine

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Physician Assistant
  • Strong understanding and practices of examination methodologies and diagnostics
  • Excellent knowledge of infectious diseases, their symptoms and epidemiology
  • Broad knowledge of medications, side effects and contraindications
  • In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality laws
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Respect for patient’s confidentiality
  • Compassionate and approachable
