We are seeking to hire a Part time/Contract Advanced Practice Provider (APP)
to work in an outpatient general Neurologist office.
Summary:
A skilled and compassionate APRN or PA-C is sought, with interest and possible previous exposure neurological disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system. Responsibilities include comprehensive patient evaluation, ordering diagnostic tests like EEGs and MRIs, developing personalized treatment plans, managing straightforward cases, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care. The ideal candidate will possess compassion, strong communication skills, and a commitment to staying current with advancements in neurology.
Key Responsibilities:
- The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician (s) who acts as the collaborating practitioner, is responsible for:
- Conduct thorough patient history and physical exam to diagnose neurological conditions such as stroke, dementia, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests including electroencephalograms (EEGs), electromyography (EMGs), magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs), and computed tomography (CT) scans.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, therapy referrals, and lifestyle modifications.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and provide ongoing education regarding their condition.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals including neurosurgeons, physical therapists, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Respond promptly to emergent neurological situations requiring immediate intervention.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding neurological disorders and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record systems such as Athena One.
- Monday-Friday, 8AM- 5PM clinic hours.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a master’s degree in nursing (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) Studies degree from an accredited institution.
- Current valid Florida APRN or PA license
- Certification through ANCC, AANP or NCCPA (or equivalent certification body)
- Commitment to ethical medical practice and patient-centered care
