Job Title: Physician Assistant – Gastroenterology

Location: Brandon, FL

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in gastroenterology, thrive in a collaborative setting, and possess excellent communication and clinical skills. The PA will work closely with our physicians to provide comprehensive care to our patients, including initial consultations, follow-up visits, and managing treatment plans for various gastrointestinal conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history-taking, physical exams, and reviewing medical records.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a range of gastrointestinal conditions, such as GERD, IBD, liver disease, and more.
  • Assist in performing outpatient procedures such as hemorrhoid rubber banding and anorectal manometries.
  • Develop and implement treatment plan, including prescribing medications and lifestyle recommendations.
  • Conduct inpatient hospital rounds to assess and manage admitted patients, collaborating with attending gastroenterologists.
  • Provide ER consultations as part of a shared call schedule.
  • Educate patients on disease prevention, management, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Participate in patient education initiatives and contribute to quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Physician Assistant license in FL.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Experience in gastroenterology is preferred but not required; new graduates with a strong interest in GI are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems, specifically Epic, is a plus.
  • Willingness to participate in inpatient rounding and ER call as part of a rotating schedule.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate and evidence-based care.

Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • Primarily Monday through Friday, with rotating ER call and inpatient rounding.
  • No regular night or weekend shifts outside of scheduled call.
