About the Role
As a Physician Assistant on our team, you will practice medicine under physician supervision in accordance with Florida law and hospital‑granted privileges. Your work will span both clinical and surgical settings, supporting patient care from initial evaluation through post‑operative follow‑up.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations
- Provide direct patient care in clinic, including:
- Splinting and casting
- Fracture and dislocation reduction
- Post‑operative follow‑ups, wound checks, and re‑visits
- Fluoroscopies and injections
- Complete all required documentation: H&Ps, progress notes, orders, consult dictations, discharge summaries
- Order appropriate diagnostic tests
- Prepare patients for surgery, including labs, clearances, and scheduling
- Provide referrals and discharge instructions
- Participate in hospital rounds and consults
- Take part in on‑call rotation
Surgical Responsibilities
- Verify medical clearances and ensure all pre‑op documentation is complete
- Review all diagnostic tests (labs, EKGs, X‑rays, MRIs)
- Assist in the OR with:
- Patient positioning and draping
- Surgical site preparation
- Retraction, suction, irrigation, and maintaining a clear operative field
- Passing instruments and supplies
- Hemostasis (sponging, clamping, tying, cauterizing)
- Suturing and closing incisions
- Dressing application
- Sponge, needle, and instrument counts
What We’re Looking For
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
Experience
- Minimum 1 year as a Physician Assistant
- Orthopedic experience strongly preferred
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Florida PA license
- CPR Basic Certification
- Experience in orthopedic, clinic, or hospital settings preferred
