Description:
The Surgical PA provides patient care in collaboration with specific surgeons face-to-face or via telehealth on communication devises such as phone or computer. Conducts surgical history/physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic/lab tests and develops plan of care. Writes prescriptions, controlled substances per Delineation of Privileges. First assists in surgery. Performs surgical procedures in the operating room under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Performs procedures in the clinic under direct or indirect supervision. The synergistic relationship with the surgeon and highly technical skills increases patient safety and positive surgical outcomes. Enables the continuity of care by managing patients in the pre, intra and post opertive settings. Performs inpatient rounding, consultations, wound care and bedside procedures. In the outpatient setting, manages clinics, clinic procdures, facilitates family and patient eduction, and participates in grand rounds. Works directly with staff, administration, patients and families to ensure qualify care across the continuum as an expert in surgical practice areas. Performs on-call coverage requiring high-level decision making on weekdays, weeknights and weekends inclusive of surgery.
Qualifications:
5 years of APP experience required. Obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges. Compliant with state requirements for CEU’s/CMEs and licensure renewal. DEA license required as per specialty. Advanced Cardiac Life Support required as per specialty. Must have experience in vein harvesting. National Certification.
