Full Job Description

The Center for Hematology Oncology (CHO) located in Boca Raton, FL presents an opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Hematology and Oncology . The Advanced Practitioner functions as a member of the healthcare team in collaboration with physicians. He/she provides direct care to patients as well as serving as a consultant, researcher, and educator.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant promotes collaboration between the multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the CHO mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with CHO policies and procedures.

Further Position Highlights:

  • Work independently to provide high quality care for hematology and oncology patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health problems. Order, interpret, and perform laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
  • Create constructive partnerships with peers, professional nurses, and other disciplines and departments to develop a patient management plan and provide optimal patient care.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills with patient and significant others to provide feedback regarding findings and treatment plan.
  • Coordinate patient care activities with other members of the healthcare team, hospital, or community.
  • Utilize research and evidence-based practice to guide decision making. Demonstrate advanced critical thinking in the care and management of patients.
  • Participate in process improvement projects.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications

  • Current Florida licensure as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Professional certification as a Nurse Practioner or Physician Assistant (or pending exam).
  • Master’s degree from an accredited educational program.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required in order to lead, teach, and interact effectively with healthcare personnel and families.
  • Prior experience working in oncology preferred.

The Center for Hematology-Oncology is an outpatient facility that was established in 1995 for the purpose of providing high quality, state-of-the-art, medical care to patients with cancer and blood disorders.

Our dedicated team is built around twelve highly qualified, board-certified physicians who all trained at prestigious institutions including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Dana Farber Cancer Center, the National Cancer Institute, the University of Pennsylvania, and New York University.

The Center also features board-certified nurse practitioners, Physician Assistants and oncology nurses with over 100 years of combined hands-on oncology experience. Patients are cared for at two comprehensive centers located in Boca Raton and Delray Beach, Florida.

Our research department provides ready access to “cutting-edge” clinical research trials through national cooperative groups, including phase II, phase III, and phase IV studies. Patients benefit from access to exciting new agents such as monoclonal antibodies and angiogenesis inhibitors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $98,000.00 – $135,000.00 per year
