Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will collaborate closely with licensed occupational therapists to deliver personalized therapy services that improve patients’ independence and quality of life. Whether working in inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health environments, you will play a crucial part in helping diverse patient populations—including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals recovering from acute care—reach their rehabilitation goals. Your expertise will support the development and implementation of effective care plans, ensuring each patient receives comprehensive, empathetic care tailored to their unique needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in evaluating patients’ functional abilities and developing customized treatment plans.
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility exercises.
- Implement therapeutic interventions across various settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health visits.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety measures to promote independence at home and in the community.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment sessions, and care plans in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive patient care and optimal recovery outcomes.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and uphold professional standards related to medical terminology, physiology knowledge, anatomy knowledge, and occupational health practices.
Experience
- Prior experience assisting with ADLs in clinical or home health settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working in acute care environments or skilled nursing facilities enhances your suitability for this role.
- Experience with pediatrics or geriatrics is advantageous for supporting diverse patient populations.
- Familiarity with medical imaging terminology and outpatient clinic procedures is a plus.
- Proven ability to develop and follow detailed care plans while demonstrating strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Previous inpatient or outpatient therapy experience is beneficial for understanding various healthcare workflows.
