Full Job Description

Palm Health Resources is hiring an experienced Cardiothoracic Advanced Practice Provider to work in a busy heart program performing in the Cardiac Surgery Operating Room!

The provider will be working in a Cardiac Surgery Operating Room where the duties would be 70-80% First Assisting/Operating Room in Cardiac Surgery Cases.

Located near Fort Meyers, FL!

Great quality of life! 4 10’S per week, On Call, weekdays 1-2 days per week, and 1 weekend every 5-6 weeks.

Candidate must be eligible to obtain a FL license and able to start as soon as credentialed.

Candidate must have a Minimum of at least, Current 2 years Cardiac Surgery First Assisting surgery experience.

Candidate must have a proficiency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting. Preferred to have Radial Harvesting, but not a hard requirement.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 3 months of hire.

Candidate Must be a BC Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs monitoring, and medical history reviews to determine suitability for cardiothoracic interventions.
  • Assist in complex surgical procedures such as cardiac catheterization, catheterization, and thoracic surgeries while maintaining aseptic technique.
  • Manage airway and ventilator support for patients in the ICU or operating room settings, ensuring proper ventilation and oxygenation.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical imaging reports and interpret findings to inform treatment plans.
  • Administer medications including injections, IV infusions, and botulinum toxin treatments as prescribed within scope of practice.
  • Provide acute pain management and triage services for postoperative or trauma patients in Level I and Level II trauma centers.
  • Document patient care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in clinical research trials related to cardiothoracic medicine, contributing data collection and analysis for ongoing studies.
  • Support discharge planning by coordinating post-acute care services including hospice & palliative medicine or home health when appropriate.

Experience

  • Prior hospital experience with a focus on cardiothoracic surgery or critical care units such as ICU or PICU is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms for documentation and data management.
  • Experience performing suturing, phlebotomy, and basic life support (BLS) procedures within a hospital setting is essential.
  • Knowledge of CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
  • Familiarity with advanced airway management techniques, ventilator protocols, and infection control practices in high-acuity environments.
  • Exposure to clinical trials involving cardiac or thoracic interventions is advantageous; experience with research protocols is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge related to the heart and lungs along with physiology knowledge necessary for comprehensive patient assessment. Join our team dedicated to advancing cardiothoracic care through excellence in clinical practice and innovative research!
