Nurse Practitioner Job Description
Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, particularly with children and infants, and possess the skills necessary to provide high-quality medical services in a fast-paced environment. This role requires expertise in various areas including acute pain management, discharge planning, and utilization management, particularly within a Level I Trauma Center setting.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and assessments of patients.
- Provide patient care through diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses.
- Manage acute pain effectively, ensuring optimal patient comfort.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement discharge plans.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy to inform treatment decisions and patient education.
- Perform airway management as needed for patients in critical conditions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care services.
Qualifications
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license with relevant certifications.
- Experience working with children and providing infant care is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of utilization management processes.
- Proficient in acute pain management techniques.
- Experience in a Level I Trauma Center is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in discharge planning strategies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in patient assessments.
Opening Overview:
- Schedule: 7a-7p or 7p-7a
- No call shifts required
- Setting: 20-bed ICU
- Required Procedures: Arterial lines, central lines, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and lumbar punctures
- Support Staff: APP and MDs during the day, MD at night
- Must be board-certified or board-eligible

Pay: $124,308.00 – $131,571.00 per year
