Seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a busy Primary care practice in East Haven, CT.

Description

The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the MD and owner of the practice. The role involves clinical and administrative tasks such as updating medical histories and allergies, scheduling patient appointments and performing point of care testing, checking vitals, or collecting lab samples. The Medical Assistant reports to the Practice Administrator and Lead Medical Assistant.

Key Duties/Responsibilities: Clinical Duties:

  • Take and record patients’ vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, etc.).
  • Prepare patients for examinations by helping and explaining procedures.
  • Assist providers with patient examinations and minor procedures.
  • Collect and prepare lab samples for testing urine and other specimens.
  • Administer medications and injections as prescribed by a provider.
  • Perform other testing as advised by the provider.
  • Educate patients on medical procedures and follow-up care.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Schedule patient appointments and maintain appointment calendars to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms and update providers, medical staff and staff as needed.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Complete billing notes accurately.
  • Return patient calls promptly.
  • Submit prior authorization promptly.
  • Patient Interaction:
  • Provide a compassionate and caring environment for patients.
  • Address patient concerns and inquiries, offering reassurance as needed.
  • Ensure that patients are comfortable and informed during their visit.
  • Additional Duties:
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including exam rooms and medical equipment.
  • Keep up with continuing education and certifications to stay updated on medical procedures, regulations, and technologies.

Requires Skills and Qualifications:

· Education and Experience

o High school diploma or equivalent.

o Certified Medical Assistant (from a recognized medical assistant program (CMA, RMA, or AAMA)

· Skills Knowledge of medical terminology, office procedures, and patient care. Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive situations with professionalism and care.

Pay negotiable

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
