Hospital for Special Surgery and Stamford Hospital established a unique collaboration to create the premier center for advanced orthopedics in New England. The collaboration includes dedicated orthopedic spaces, including four inpatient operating rooms with related pre-operative and recovery space and 19 inpatient beds in the Stamford Health Hospital tower, with the opportunity for expansion.
The PA will be responsible for all aspects of Orthopedic care. Pre-operative/post-operative management, 1 st /2 nd assisting in the OR as well as inpatient management in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team (Hospitalists/subspecialty consultants). Similar responsibilities will also be assigned at our ambulatory surgery center for outpatient, same day surgeries.
Fulltime opportunities available with the following work schedules:
Schedule: 4 – 10 hour shifts (Monday-Friday). Rotating days to meet the needs of the service. On call every 10th weekend for HSS elective patients. Call is 6:00am Saturday to 6:00am Monday. Rotating hospital holidays.
Schedule: 3 – 13 hour set shifts (Tues, Thurs, Fri). On call every 10th weekend for HSS elective patients. Call is 6:00am Saturday to 6:00am Monday. Rotating hospital holidays.
1) Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program
2) Active Connecticut PA license and NCCPA certification required prior to start of employment
3) Minimum of one-year prior experience in Orthopedics strongly preferred; new graduate PAs who have orthopedic rotations may be considered
4) ACLS and BLS required; PALS preferred
