JOB TITLE: Physician Assistant

SALARY RANGE: $90,000 – $120,510

DEPT/DIV: Occupational Health Services

SUPERVISOR: Assistant Medical Director

LOCATION: New Haven Ct. (Additional OHS & Field Locations)

HOURS OF WORK: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (7.5 hours per day)

SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Medical Director, this position will perform general occupational health evaluations which includes pre-placement, periodic, medical surveillance, fitness for duty (including work related injuries) and return to duty examinations. The incumbent will make appropriate work status dispositions under Federal, state and local regulations and agency policies and standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform comprehensive pre-placement medical examinations and determine an applicant’s qualification for the position consistent with regulations, agency policies, and standards.
  • Perform periodic medical examinations as required for position and make appropriate work status determinations.
  • Perform medical examinations required by Federal regulations such as train engineer, conductor certification, hearing conservation, and asbestos handler.
  • Perform Federal Commercial Driver medical examinations required by Federal regulations.
  • Schedule and conduct follow-up examinations as indicated or required for chronic conditions such as cardiac disease, diabetes, hypertension, and sleep disorders, and case management follow-up of employees out due to injury on duty or sick.
  • Work with the Assistant Medical Director and other clinical staff members, as needed, for medical review, quality assurance, and audit activities.
  • Work with clinical nurse as needed to perform diagnostic testing such as audiometry, EKGs, and vision testing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • The applicant must have excellent clinical skills and judgment for accurate determinations of the ability to perform specific duties of the position when applicants or employees have complex medical issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires current valid license as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience or satisfactory equivalent.
  • If selected for the position, an FMCSA medical examiner certification is required within 90 days of employment with the MTA.

PREFFERED:

  • Clinical experience in an occupational setting or primary care ambulatory facility.

OTHER INFORMATION:
