Exciting New Opportunity! We are an established growing family friendly pediatric practice is looking for a Physician Assistant (PA) / Nurse Practitioner (APRN/NP) to join and provide high quality Pediatric clinical care that is essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance and restoration of patient’s health and wellness. Works collaboratively with other practitioners and health care team members to meet both acute care and health maintenance needs of our patients. Member of the CCMC Care Network. Engages patients, patients’ families, and their caregivers in understanding, setting, and monitoring patient self-management care plans in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to the patient and caregiver. Completes necessary referrals, communication of needed tests and procedures, and appropriate patient instructions. Maintains CT medical license. We use an Answering Service and Night Nurse Triage as part of our on-call services. Provider only contacted when Triage nurse needs authorization or case requires speaking with a physician.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical
- Demonstrates the ability to show sound judgment, possesses a calm disposition and able to perform clinical evaluations competently according to established professional and medical standards.
- Examine newborns and children regularly to assess their growth and development needs.
- Treat children who have minor illnesses, acute and chronic health problems, and growth and development concerns.
- Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury in infants and children.
- Examine patients or order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis.
- Advise patients, parents or guardians, and state agencies concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention. Supporting of patients and families in self-management of their care.
- Evaluate, Interpret, and explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients and parents or guardians. Bilingual skill is
- Monitor patients’ conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments, as necessary.
- Participates in care team meetings to discuss patients’ care needs to aid in the mental and physical growth and development of children and adolescents.
- Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners, when necessary.
- Participates in an on-call coverage system providing 24-hour care for patients, occasional Saturday morning and one late day (afternoon/evening hour) appointments per week, as necessary. No Hospital rounds.
- Document each patient’s individualized care plan and care coordination in the Practice’s EMR in a timely manner. Participate in scheduled team meetings to address practice processes and workflows.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with availability for rotating evening phone call coverage
Administrative
- Maintains board certification and licensure. Must have CT Medical License (or able to obtain CT Medical License). Attends continuing education programs. Maintains involvement in professional organizations, as necessary.
- Collaborate with practice manager, care coordinator and clerical/clinical staff to promote the smooth functioning of the medical component meeting patient’s health care needs.
- Supervises/collaborates with nurse practitioners and physician assistants, as necessary.

All Health information is kept in strict confidence. Confidentiality of patient and business information is a requirement. Full access to patient medical records and encounter data. Confidentiality must be maintained according to our policies.
Preferred Education/Experience: Previous experience providing care for patients ages newborn to 21 years of age in a pediatric setting.

Job Types: Full-time – Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (4 days/week) and 1 late day (1pm to 7pm)
License: Current, valid CT APRN, NP or PA License (Required)
Work Location: Multiple locations (Bristol, CT and Southington, CT)
Candidate must be able to successfully pass professional reference checks, a third-party background check and pre-employment drug screen
