Advanced Practice Practitioner – Urgent Care

Bristol Health Medical Group is seeking compassionate, mission-focused healthcare providers to join its thriving network of community-based practices staffed by some of the region’s most skilled physicians and advanced practice providers.

We are seeking a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to join a staff of one physician and four PA’s to provide urgent care services, including medical, pediatric, orthopedic and minor surgical care; treatment for illnesses and injuries; physical examinations; laboratory and x-ray services. We offer state of the art digital radiology and electronic medical records, with constant physician back-up. This position also includes occasional back up for our Occupational Health program.

Our Urgent Care Center, known as Med-Help, is part of a unique partnership of providers within the Bristol Hospital Multi-Specialty Group who have organized to provide the greater Bristol community with continuous, high quality health care. We operate 365 days of the year and open Monday-Friday, 8 am to 8 pm; Saturday 9 am to 5 pm; Sundays and Holidays 9 am to 2 pm.

Experience in acute care is desired.

Position Requirements: Graduation from an accredited Physician Associate program required, certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, valid Connecticut medical license, Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration and Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certification or Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, valid Connecticut medical license, Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration and Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and BLS.

Advanced Practice Practitioner will meet the standards and requirements for Adjunct Medical Staff membership as defined in the Hospital’s Medical Staff Bylaws.

Job Details:

Performs medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, consultations, and treatment for inpatients as primary provider or consultant.

Effective communication with the collaborating physician and staff within the Bristol Hospital Multi-Specialty Group System.

Collaborative approach with nursing service and ancillary staff for patient care of patients admitted to the Bristol Hospital System.

Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.

Directs and coordinates the care of patients between specialists and other relevant patient care components as appropriate.

As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.

Follows established Department/Divisional policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.

Participates in committee activities as assigned by the employer.

Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the employer.

Participates/Coordinates in Bristol Hospital HealthCare Group programs as assigned.

Prepare all reports, claims and correspondence necessary or appropriate in connection with professional services rendered by Advanced Practice Practitioner.

Obtain consultation with physicians as appropriate.

Assist in the preparation for and participate in surveys by federal or state regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.

Participate in clinical guideline development, care management programs and quality assurance as directed.

Provide input and support to the development and management of the practice.

Participate and comply with BHMSG and Hospital compliance programs and activities, including participation in any compliance education programs deemed necessary or appropriate by BHMSG or Hospital including but not limited to billing and coding compliance programs.

Comply with all BHMSG reimbursement requirements including the timely completion of billing slips and accurate coding of services.

Serve on BHMSG, Hospital and Medical Staff committees as requested by the Employer.

Attend and participate in regularly scheduled meetings with other professional members of BHMSG and the Hospital.
