Job Summary:

The Physician Assistant will be an integral part of our healthcare team, working under the supervision of licensed physicians to provide comprehensive medical care to our diverse patient population. This role involves assessing patient health, developing treatment plans, and ensuring ongoing management of medical conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical excellence, strong communication skills, and a passion for patient advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment:

  • Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations to evaluate patients’ health status.
  • Identify and prioritize patient problems through effective clinical evaluation.

Diagnosis and Treatment:

  • Diagnose a range of acute and chronic medical conditions, collaborating with supervising physicians as needed.
  • Formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Manage follow-up care and modify treatment plans based on patient response and changing conditions.

Procedures:

  • Perform minor surgical and therapeutic procedures as required, adhering to established protocols and best practices.
  • Assist in more complex surgical procedures under the direction of supervising physicians.

Patient Education:

  • Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care, fostering an environment of shared decision-making.
  • Promote health maintenance and disease prevention strategies tailored to individual patients.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, sharing insights and contributing to case discussions.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Stay informed about and adhere to policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure high-quality patient care.

Inbox Management & On-Call Duties:

  • Manage the physician’s inbox, ensuring timely responses to patient inquiries, lab results, and medication refills.
  • Participate in on-call duties as scheduled, providing after-hours support to patients as needed.
  • Maintain on-call availability for urgent patient needs and support outside of regular clinic hours.

Continuous Learning:

  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including attending relevant workshops, conferences, and continuing education courses.
  • Stay updated with the latest medical advancements, research, and best practices in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
  • Licensing: Current PA license in Colorado. Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 of clinical experience preferred; experience in family medicine is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Athena or similar EMR systems and technology.

Skills:

  • Exceptional clinical assessment, coding, and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
