Job Title:Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner-Orthopedic Spine Team

Department: Administration Location: Denver, CO

Wage Range: $110,000-$150,000 Schedule: Weekdays/On Call

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the overseeing physician, the Physician Assistant will assist in the overall management of patient care, both in the clinic and operating room setting. This position is part of a care team and is responsible for providing and coordinating medical, surgical, and other specialty care to patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Job Duty Split: 80-90% Clinic/clinical care/10-20% Operative/Surgical Assist care
  • Clinic Care Duties:
    • Provide patient assessments through patient exams, medical history, interpretation of diagnostic procedures, and development and implementation of patient treatment plans.
    • Order diagnostic testing or refer to outside specialists as needed.
    • Serve as a critical role within the health care team, as well as working closely with physicians and ancillary staff to provide safe, satisfying care to patients and their families.
    • Provide consultation and education as a highly specialized practitioner within scope of practice.
    • Provide telemedicine, telephone and/or email consultations with patients regarding pre-operative concerns, post-operative care, and general clinical questions, during normal office hours and as a part of the on-call schedule as determined by the practice.
    • Coordinate pre-operative clearance management.
    • Perform minor outpatient procedures under the direction of the physician.
    • Document and update patient records accordingly in a timely manner.
  • Surgical Duties:
    • Provides first assistant coverage in OR per approved Delineation of Privileges.
    • Provides rounding coverage including preparation of admission/discharge order preparation and discharge instruction communication to patients.

Education and Licensing Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current PA/NP license or eligible for licensure in Colorado
  • Prescription authority and DEA number
  • Three to five years of experience in an Orthopedic setting preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:

  • May include standing, sitting and/or walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
