Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation for patients with special needs or medical conditions
- Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical records efficiently
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to effectively communicate procedures and instructions to patients
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic role with familiarity in general dentistry practices
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures to ensure patient safety
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety guidelines
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dental care
- Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry and working with diverse patient populations is preferred
- Certification or training in chairside assisting, medical coding, or related areas is advantageous
