JOB SUMMARY: Kaweah Health is seeking a Neurosurgery Physician Assistant to join a respectable practice, Center Neurorestoration Associates, in their delivery of care at Kaweah Health.
JOB DETAILS:
· Assesses, diagnoses, plans and implements the medical care of neurosurgical patients in collaboration with a physician.
· Functions within the full scope of licensure; accountable for the assessment and coordinated delivery and evaluation of care, which includes direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
· Performs appropriate general examinations, diagnostic tests, and other types of more specialized procedures as may be indicated by patient history and complaints, according to protocol.
· Follows up on all abnormal findings within a timely manner, responds to patient clinical needs and refers to other providers as appropriate.
· Provides medical consultation including the performance of therapeutic procedures delegated by the supervising neurosurgery physicians, assist with various procedures, provides patent education, treatment and follow up, may complete daily rounds.
· Charts all information with regard to the client’s examination and plans for treatment within the electronic medical record. Chart review meets quality improvement standards. Completes timely chart documentation.
· Responsibilities may include managing patients in an office, hospital, emergency and/or perioperative setting, and will have duties as a surgical assistant, based on approved privileges.
· Provides care delivery within a team-based, patient-centered approach. Engages the patient and their family in the decision-making process regarding their care. Utilizes care team members appropriately (e.g. pharmacy, care coordinators, dieticians, etc).
· Utilizes evidence-based practice guidelines and resources for clinical practice.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Two years’ experience in neurosurgery service line, including OR experience.
