Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history intake to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Perform procedures such as suturing, injections, and basic airway management while maintaining aseptic techniques and adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Manage acute pain cases, triage patients efficiently in emergency or urgent care settings, and coordinate care for complex cases involving ventilator management or ICU patients
- Utilize EMR systems like Epic or Cerner for precise documentation of patient records, medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and data management for clinical research or quality improvement projects
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including radiology interpretation, laboratory testing (phlebotomy), and infection control procedures while ensuring compliance with hospital standards
- Support hospital-based services such as inpatient care at Level I or Level II trauma centers, neonatal ventilator management, or post-acute care including hospice & palliative medicine
- Participate in clinical trials or research initiatives aimed at advancing medical knowledge and improving patient outcomes
Requirements
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification from the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) or equivalent credentialing body
- Demonstrated experience administering injections, performing suturing, and conducting physical examinations in hospital or outpatient settings
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; experience with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding and CPT coding preferred
- Critical care experience including ICU or emergency room exposure; Level I or Level II trauma center experience highly desirable
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
- Ability to manage complex cases involving ventilator support, catheterization procedures such as cardiac catheterization or spinal taps, and airway management techniques
- Excellent communication skills for effective health coaching, patient education, discharge planning, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal units (PICU), occupational health settings or home care environments is a plus
