Full Job Description

Beach Cities Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is looking for a dedicated Physician’s Assistant to support the Practice and actively facilitate patients’ recovery. You will be responsible for appropriately diagnosing orthopedic conditions and formulating conservative and interventional treatment plans. Our Practice serves diverse patient population, offering them first class care and getting them back to the activities they love to do. We have offices in Manhattan Beach, Torrance, and San Pedro.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Performing comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams, interpret and correlate lab and diagnostic procedures.

· Formulating treatment plans for Orthopedic problems within scope of practice.

· Implementing therapeutic interventions for specific conditions when appropriate.

· Ordering, collecting, and performing appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens. Ordering or performing diagnostic studies such as but not limited to EMG, electrocardiogram, compartment pressure measurements, and x-ray examinations including special x-ray examinations CT, MRI, and bone scans etc.

· Performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, injections of joints, tendons, trigger points and bursa, as well as brace, cast and splint applications.

· Ordering, prescribing, dispensing, and administering Medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces and other Orthopedic devices as may be allowed by state legislation.

· Evaluating, screening and counseling patients on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources. Design, conduct and/or participate in research studies, manage databases, and perform quality assurance

· Assisting with Workers Compensation patients.

Patient Care and Services:

· Patient Care: Ensures activities are run in an efficient, safe manner to maximize patient care. This including ensuring that policies and procedures are developed, revised as needed, and implemented by the clinical team.

· Patient Services: Instill a strong culture of patient service which includes being responsive to patients’ non-clinical requests in a timely manner.

Teamwork:

· Working closely with the supervising physician(s), healthcare professionals (e.g. Medical Assistants, Physical Therapists, Radiologists, etc.) to deliver best in class patient care.

· Working closely with scheduling (front desk and phone room), and management to ensure PA schedule is meeting productivity requirements, this includes the ability to cover same-day scheduling additions.

· Assisting with local team activities as requested by the physicians

· Providing clinic support to any project or activity that furthers Beach Cities Orthopedics and Sports Medicine

Skills:

· Effective at listening to others, expressing ideas, both orally and in writing and providing relevant and timely information to patients, supervising physician, management, co-workers, and patients.

· The ability to work independently on scheduling time to meet established productivity targets.

· Research, interpret, and stay current with all applicable health care regulatory requirements for example: Coding, DEA, Workers Comp

· Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task

· Caring and compassionate

· Team player with good communication skills

Qualifications:

· BSc/MA in Physician Assistant Studies, Health Science or Medical Science

· 2 to 3 years’ experience in an acute care setting.

· Experience with orthopedic consults.

· Knowledge of medical guidelines and procedures regarding examination, therapy and recovery

· Active California Physician Assistant license

· DEA License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $110,000.00 per year
