Full Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) to join our growing rheumatology team. As a Rheumatology PA-C, you will remotely work alongside an experienced rheumatologist to provide high-quality care to patients with a wide range of rheumatologic conditions, including autoimmune diseases, inflammatory arthritis, and connective tissue disorders. You will be involved in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients, with a focus on developing individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care:
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including history taking, physical exams, and assessment of lab results.
- Diagnose and manage common and complex rheumatologic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, and spondyloarthropathies.
- Administer and monitor biologic therapies and DMARDs.
- Perform joint injections, aspirations, and other rheumatology-specific procedures.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including patient education and follow-up care.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with a rheumatologist, medical scribes, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Coordinate care with specialists and assist in referrals as needed.
- Patient Education:
- Provide education to patients and families regarding disease processes, medication management, and lifestyle modifications to improve quality of life.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with practice policies and legal requirements.
- Continuous Learning:
- Stay current with the latest research, treatment options, and clinical guidelines in rheumatology.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the NCCPA.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in rheumatology preferred, but not required. New graduates with an interest in rheumatology will be considered.
- Strong clinical skills and ability to manage complex patient cases.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Active state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- DEA license (not required, but highly recommended)
- Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
