Physician Assistant – Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine (Outpatient)

About Us
Paloma Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physician Assistant to join our out patient Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine team in South Orange County, California. You’ll work two office days per week (8 hours per day) in a collaborative, patient-centered environment that values integrity, teamwork, and a humanistic approach to care.
Our practice includes Pulmonology, Internal Medicine, Concierge Medicine, and a robust Hospitalist program. At Paloma, we treat whole people—not just medical problems. Position Summary
This position involves providing in-office care for patients with a wide range of pulmonary and sleep-related conditions, including chronic respiratory disease, asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and sleep apnea. You will collaborate closely with supervising physicians and a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest level of care.
Schedule
- 2 outpatient clinic days per week
- 8-hour shifts (M–F, flexible days)
- No nights, weekends, or hospital rounding required
Location
We have two locations, Laguna Hills and San Juan Capistrano. You may be at either location depending on the day that you work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive histories and physical exams focused on pulmonary and sleep health
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage chronic and acute pulmonary conditions and sleep disorders. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including pulmonary function tests, chest imaging, and sleep studies
- Initiate and monitor treatment plans, including medication management and DME (CPAP/BiPAP) setup
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and preventive care
- Coordinate specialty referrals and collaborate with respiratory therapists and DME providers
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR (within 24 hours)
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and development of clinical protocols
- Support a culture of empathy, professionalism, and respect across the care team
- Complete disability/work-related forms as medically appropriate
- Assist in the education of patients, staff, and fellow clinicians when needed
Qualifications
Preferred Languages
English + Mandarin or and or Spanish
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Master’s degree in PA Studies required
Licensure & Certifications
- Current and unrestricted California PA license
- Current DEA registration and NPI
- Board certification NCCPA
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
Additional certification in Pulmonary or Sleep Medicine is a plus.
Experience
- Preferred: Experience in Pulmonology, Sleep Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Primary Care
- Familiarity with:
- COPD, asthma, ILD, pulmonary hypertension
- Obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy
- Interpretation of PFTs and sleep studies
- CPAP/BiPAP management and patient education
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- EMR proficiency (EPIC or eClinicalWorks preferred)
- Collaborative and team-oriented with strong organizational abilities
- Compassionate, humanistic approach to care
