Full Job Description
In collaboration with the supervising physician and the administrative supervisor, the Physician Assistant cares for patients receiving treatment for thoracic malignancies including lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymic cancer. The PA provides clinical guidance for patients receiving systemic therapy for thoracic malignancies including management of treatment toxicities, management of oncologic emergencies, symptom management, care coordination, assistance with triage, and other duties as assigned. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of recent medical oncology Physician Assistant experience or completion of a comprehensive oncology APP fellowship program.
Sr. PA
- Minimum of 5 years of recent medical oncology Physician Assistant experience or completion of a comprehensive oncology APP fellowship program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years experience as a Physician Assistant in an outpatient solid tumor medical oncology program.
- Experience working with Clinical Trial Protocols.
- Experience working in an Academic Medical Center.
License/Certification
- Must hold an active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
- Must hold current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
- Must hold an active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Must have completed an AAPA recognized graduate master’s degree program as a physician assistant.
- Must have submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
- Must hold current AHA BLS as minimum requirement.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
