Job Title: Critical Care Pediatric Physician Assistant (PA)
Location: San Francisco, CA
Setting: Pediatric ICU
Term: ASAP– 26 weeks
Schedule: Variable 12-hour shifts including weekends, days, nights, & holidays Must be able to provide 50% night or weekend coverage with availability.
Pay Rate: $115-120/hr
Job Summary:
A hospital in San Francisco, California is looking for physician assistants to provide additional coverage for increased patient load. Providers can expect to see a significant heart failure population, patients on vents, patients who are pre & post op, patients with cardiac catheterization.

Requirements of a Critical Care Pediatric Physician Assistant (PA):
- Active CA Physician Assistant License
- Board Certification
- PALS/BLS Certification
- DEA
- EPIC experience
- 2 years of PCICU (no surgery, no stepdown, must be experienced with pediatric cardiovascular critical care)
- Exp with heart failure would be a plus, although not required
Responsibilities of a Critical Care Pediatric Physician Assistant (PA):
- Provide care for pediatric, neonatal, and adult congenital heart patients in a critical care setting
- Manage a caseload of 17-18 patients per day, with a focus on pre- and post-operative cardiovascular cases and heart failure patients
- Work within a team of 1 attending, 3 nurse practitioners, and 1 fellow (overnight: 1 attending, 2 NPs)
- Perform critical care tasks including placing IVs and arterial lines; most complex procedures are handled by fellows or attending physicians
- Collaborate in a high-acuity pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU) with an 18-bed capacity, managing patients on ventilators and those recovering from cardiac surgeries and catheterizations
- Utilize the Epic EMR system for patient care management and documentation
- Must be proficient in general cardiovascular critical care across neonatal to adult congenital populations
