Full Job Description
The Physician Assistant is an integral part of the surgical team, performing assessments of patients, coordinating work-ups, participating in rounds, performing assigned procedures, supporting inpatient case management (including orders, progress notes, and discharge coordination), performing consultations, carrying service pager and accepting responsibility for after-hour and or weekend Emergency Department call and floor coverage as assigned, and managing assigned outpatient clinics. The Physician Assistant facilitates the provision of optimum health care for patients and their families in conjunction with other health care team members. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $78.62 – $105.82 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Completion of Physician Assistant Program
- Experience in pediatric patient care
- Specialized educational preparation and/or extensive clinical experience in specialty area
- Computer knowledge. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. Ability to work independently, problem solve, and prioritize demands. Utilization management or experience with health care provider systems. Knowledge of pediatric conditions is highly desired. Must possess appropriate evaluation techniques, and ability to develop and implement treatment plan. Serve as 1st or 2nd assistant in the OR as needed.

- Rep Use of UE/Grasp: Up to 6 hrs
- Lift/Push/Pull: 25lbs, over 25# with assistance or equipment
- This job requires the ability to hear alarms clients and/or instruction. The ability to see accurately from 20 inches to 20-ft. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function of this position.
Preferred Qualifications
License/Certification
- Licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of California.
- BLS
- UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
