Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Job Description
OverviewDr. Babaria’s practice, Orange County Spine and Sports Medicine, operates out of the DISC Sports and Spine Center in Newport Beach. Nationally recognized for his work in interventional spine care and sports medicine, Dr. Babaria is a leading expert in orthobiologics (Regenerative Medicine) and interventional pain management.
This position is ideal for a self-motivated practitioner with a passion for sports and regenerative medicine who is looking for an opportunity to grow and exercise their skills and knowledge to help their patients live fulfilling lives. This position has the efficiency and flexibility of a small office while still supporting providers with Medical Assistants, authorization coordinators, and schedulers.
The person who fills this position will have the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Babaria and will play a vital role in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients, assisting in interventional procedures, and coordinating multidisciplinary care.
Responsibilities
- Stay informed about the latest trends in orthobiologics and sports medicine and participate in ongoing professional training and development.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-Rays, MRIs and laboratory studies to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans for patients to treat and/or manage their health conditions.
- Provide patient education on pain management strategies, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
- Assist the physician with in-office procedures (including joint and trigger point injections, nerve blocks, and other interventional procedures) under the guidance of the physician.
- Assist the physician with outpatient injections, peer to peers, and completion of patient medical forms.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals including physical therapists, psychologists, chiropractors, etc as needed.
- Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
- Document all patient evaluations, treatments, medications, and transactions according to company policies and procedures.
- Stay current with coding practices to ensure proper documentation and billing processes.
Skills
- Proficient in performing vital signs assessments and interpreting results.
- Knowledge of coding practices for accurate medical record keeping.
- Familiarity with esthetic laser treatment procedures is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction and education.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
Qualifications
- Must be licensed as an NP or PA in the state of California (Required)
- Must have an active DEA License (Required)
- Pain Management or Orthopedics background (2 Years Preferred)
- AthenaOne Health EMR Experience (Preferred)
- IV Access, IV sedation experience (Required)
- Medication Management (Preferred)

Pay: From $70.00 per hour
