Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs measurement, and detailed medical histories.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks to document findings accurately.
  • Assist in procedures such as suturing, injections (including botulinum toxin treatment), IV infusions, catheterizations, spinal taps, and airway management.
  • Manage acute pain cases and participate in pain management strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Coordinate triage processes in emergency room or urgent care settings to prioritize patient care efficiently.
  • Administer medications following proper protocols while ensuring aseptic techniques and HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality.
  • Contribute to clinical research initiatives by collecting data, managing records according to NCQA standards, and supporting clinical trials related to infectious diseases or other specialties.
  • Support hospital operations in various departments including ICU, neonatal units with ventilator management, PICU, or post-acute care settings such as nursing homes or hospice & palliative medicine.
  • Engage in health coaching and patient education to promote wellness and chronic disease management.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools such as radiology imaging or cardiac catheterization reports for comprehensive patient evaluation.
  • Assist with discharge planning, documentation of CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding for billing purposes.
  • Maintain proficiency with EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, or other platforms ensuring accurate data management and medical records upkeep.

ExperienceCandidates should possess a valid Physician Assistant license with demonstrated experience in multiple clinical environments including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics. Prior experience with critical care settings such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable. Familiarity with advanced procedures like ventilator management (including neonatal ventilators), radiation therapy support roles, dialysis procedures, or occupational health is a plus. Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy is essential for effective patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation. Ideal applicants will have hands-on experience administering injections and performing suturing techniques while adhering to aseptic protocols. Proficiency in medical terminology along with experience using EMR systems like Epic or Cerner is required for seamless documentation. Knowledge of CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-9/10) ensures accurate billing processes. Additional valuable skills include telehealth experience, infection control practices, data collection for research purposes, and familiarity with hospital standards such as NCQA. Applicants should demonstrate excellent communication skills for effective triage and patient education across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal units, or senior care settings.
