Job Description:
Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles, invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, Contractually Limited Term (CLT) position as the inaugural Program Director for the Physician Assistant program. We are in the process of applying for accreditation with ARC-PA and the Director will be leading this effort. This position is partially funded by a Title V DHSI grant to develop new graduate programs and build upon existing programs in the Health Sciences.
Position Annual Hiring Salary Range: $120,000 – $125,000
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Responsibilities
Initial responsibilities will include:
- completion of self-study documents to ensure a successful provisional accreditation
- reviewing and modifying the existing curriculum as appropriate to meet the accreditation standards
- collaborating with the medical director to identify and develop agreements with clinical education sites
- developing the program handbook
Ongoing responsibilities will include:
- maintaining compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards centered on the self-study report process
- providing student academic advising and evaluation
- participating in program/university assessment
- completing professional development activities and service to the University and community
- overseeing the recruitment and hiring of qualified full and part-time faculty to support the program
- leading the program’s faculty and staff in the ongoing review of the curriculum, program goals and outcomes, and program self-study and evaluation
- overseeing the development and application of admissions policies and processes relating to the program
- representing the physician assistant program at internal university meetings as assigned
- teaching courses in the program; supervising the program’s medical director and faculty and staff in activities that relate to the physician assistant program
- facilitating professional development opportunities for faculty and staff
- managing the department/program budget; maintain clinical expertise as required per licensing
- participating in scholarly activity
- performing other program duties as assigned
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an ARC-PA accredited program
- experience with and knowledge of ARC-PA accreditation standards
- current NCCPA certification
- minimum 3 years of clinical experience
- licensed or eligible for licensure as a physician assistant in the state of California
- teaching experience in a Physician Assistant program or higher education setting
- ability to work effectively as a team member
- excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Earned doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline
- administrative experience in a Physician Assistant Program
- experience with students from diverse backgrounds
