About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician Assistant with specialized expertise in spine surgery to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assisting orthopedic and spine surgeons in both surgical and clinical settings. What You Will Do
Clinical Responsibilities
- Assist spine surgeons in pre-operative evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-operative care.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations, diagnostic tests, and medical history reviews
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising surgeon.
- Provide patient education and counseling on treatment options, surgical procedures, and post operative care instructions.
- Evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Experience in musculoskeletal/orthopedic care, including clinic-based evaluations, interpreting imaging (X-rays, MRI, CT), and perioperative management.
- Surgical first-assist experience in spine procedures
- Strong knowledge of spine anatomy, common pathologies (e.g., stenosis, disc herniation, scoliosis, trauma), and treatments.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills (critical for working closely with surgeons, fellows, nurses, and patients).
- Ability to manage high-acuity patients, stay calm under pressure
- Inpatient rounding and light call responsibilities
- Participated in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Work at ambulatory surgery centers in Marina Del Rey and Long Beach, Hospital in Long Beach, and clinic in Long Beach
- The role will benefit from high-level surgical training and mentorship
Qualifications
- Active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
- Active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Complete an AAPA recognized graduate master’s degree program as a Physician Assistant.
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
- Current AHA BLS.
- Current AHA ACLS.
- One year of clinical experience and spine experience preferred.
- Proficiency in assisting in surgery
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
Pay: $170,000.00 – $180,000.00 per year
