Employment Type: Full-time/Part-time

Job Summary:

The Experienced Urgent Care Physician Assistant (PA) provides high-quality, efficient medical care to patients in an urgent care setting. The PA will diagnose and treat a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries to include work related injuries, ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate care. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent patient interaction, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:
  • Conduct thorough patient history and physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and treat acute medical conditions and injuries.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, X-rays, and EKGs.
  • Treatment and Management:
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications.
  • Perform minor procedures such as suturing, splinting, wound care, and abscess drainage.
  • Provide care for common urgent conditions such as respiratory infections, fractures, lacerations, and sprains.
  • Patient Education:
  • Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care.
  • Provide instructions for follow-up care and referrals to specialists as needed.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and medical assistants.
  • Coordinate patient care with primary care physicians and specialists.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer review processes.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and clinic policies.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Clinical Operations:
  • Assist with the overall flow of the urgent care clinic.
  • Participate in clinic meetings and training sessions.
  • Contribute to a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in an urgent care or emergency care setting.
  • Licensure/Certification:
  • Current PA license in California.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • DOT certification (This can be done upon accepting position)
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong clinical skills in diagnosing and treating acute medical conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound medical decisions.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and moving medical supplies and equipment.
  • Manual dexterity to operate medical instruments and office equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Urgent care clinic or healthcare setting.
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases and biohazards.
  • Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
