Position Overview:
Under physician supervision, assists in surgeries and delivers pre-operative and post-operative care. PA practice is per California Physician Assistant regulations and the delegation of service agreement between PA(s) and the supervising physician(s).
Job Description:
These Principal Accountabilities, Requirements and Qualifications are not exhaustive, but are merely the most descriptive of the current job. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES Provides patient education, counseling, medication advice and follow-up instructions with referral when necessary. Performs independently or in conjunction with a provider with any office visit. Completes Electronic Health Record documentation in timely and accurate manner according to policy. First assist in surgical procedures consistent with the physician specialty and the physician assistant’s training. Documents per institution’s requirements. Performs history and physical examinations and completes required surgical paperwork per institution requirements. Completes Electronic Health Record documentation in timely and accurate manner according to policy. Performs minor office surgery or procedures such as cast applications, suture removal, splints, general wound care and injections consistent with the physician specialty. Completes Electronic Health Record documentation in timely and accurate manner according to policy. Transmits, furnishes, dispenses and administers immunization and medications consistent with California State Law and approved policies and procedures, and documents Completes Electronic Health Record documentation in timely and accurate manner according to policy. EDUCATION Master’s: Physician Assistant CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE PA-Physician Assistant CSRC-Controlled Substance Registered Certification (DEA) BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider NCCPA-National Physician Assistant Certification DEPARTMENT REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE Affiliate: Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Department: Urgent Care & Cardiology, ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN: 6 months related clinical experience. Bilingual (Spanish) SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Medical knowledge and skills applicable to perform within the scope of practice. Verbal and written communication skills for regular contact with young patient, adult patient, physician and staff. Computer data entry skills to enter patient information in Electronic Health Record. Organizational skills. Ability to work with others in a flexible, cooperative manner. Must be able to handle varying procedures and interruptions. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Affiliate: Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Department: Urgent Care Center, Minimum 1 year related clinical experience At least 2 years Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine experience. Pay Range is $88.56 to $117.36 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
