Job Description:

The Physician Assistant (PA) provides medical evaluation and treatment of John Muir Health patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. The PA performs duties according to core scope of practice. The PA functions within their governing body’s Scope of Practice. The PA is an advanced practice provider who possesses evidence-based medical know ledge and skills in physical diagnosis, assessment, and management of health illness needs in their area of clinical specialty or practice. The PA is academically and clinically trained to perform many of the routine/specific examinations and interventions for treatment and care of the patient population served. He/She can provide information to patients on health maintenance, disease prevention and counseling. The PA in this role will coordinate pre-surgical assessment, patient testing and consultations of surgical patients at various locations within the health system. This PA may assess surgical patients post-discharge or in the acute care setting. The PA provides healthcare in a collegial relationship with physicians to patients at John Muir Health facilities.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

  • Approved Physician Assistant’s Program Required

Experience:

  • 2 years Physician’s Assistant Healthcare – Required

  • Physician’s Assistant – Internal Medicine or Family Practice – Preferred

Certifications/Licensures:

  • PA Physician Assistant – PAB California Board of Physician Assistant Board Required

  • CPA Certified Physician Assistants – National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Required

  • DEA Drug Enforcement Agency – US Dept of Justice – Drug Enforcement Administration Required

  • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association Required

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to work well with physicians, health care professionals, and community organizations.

  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.

  • Strong computer skills and project management including Epic, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Access, or another relational database desired.

Work Shift:

Exempt Days (Mon-Fri) (United States of America)

Pay Range:

$92.07 – $138.11 Hourly

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.
Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.
Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word ‘exempt’ on it.
