Job Summary:
Provides primary health care services in medical imaging with physician supervision. Provides a broad range of radiology diagnostic and interventional services, and exercises autonomy in decision making with regard to patient assessment and patient management under the supervision, guidance and discretion of a supervising physician.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in radiological technology or equivalent as recognized by the CBRPA (some certifications will require Bachelor’s): Preferred
- Master’s Degree: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certification Board for Radiology Practitioner Assistants (CBRPA) or eligible for CBRPA certificate examination: Required
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification: Required
- Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- Fluoroscopy license in state of employment: Preferred
- Venipuncture certification: Preferred
- Certification Board for Radiology Practitioner Assistants (RDPA): Required
- ARRT-Radiography (ARRT-R): Required
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required
Essential Functions:
- Performs procedures including, but not limited to the following: Fluoroscopic procedures (static and dynamic), Venous Access Procedures, PICC after demonstrating competency and under the guidance, supervision and discretion of the supervising physician.
- Assesses patients prior to surgery, including review of pre-operative studies. Gathers supplies and equipment for surgical procedures. Collaborates with surgical team to complete case preparation prior to patient arrival in the surgical suite.
- Evaluates medical images, reviews preliminary reports and images with a supervising physician, and prepares technical reports that will be reviewed and signed off by the supervising physician.
- Assesses and evaluates the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient.
- Maintains and monitors good “traffic control practices� in the operating room while surgical procedures are in progress.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
