Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant to join our advanced cardiovascular care team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive support in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with complex cardiac and thoracic conditions. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering high-quality patient care within a dynamic hospital environment, including intensive care units and surgical settings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience, demonstrate proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic and Cerner, and have a strong foundation in critical care, surgical procedures, and patient assessment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical histories to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
• Assist in complex cardiothoracic procedures such as cardiac catheterization, catheterization, and ventilator management.
• Manage acute pain, airway stabilization, and critical care needs within ICU settings, including Level I and Level II trauma centers.
• Administer injections such as botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate and perform suturing during surgical procedures.
• Utilize EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient records, data collection, and medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
• Support diagnostic evaluations through imaging review, laboratory data analysis, and interpretation of diagnostic tests.
• Participate in clinical research trials related to cardiothoracic medicine to advance evidence-based practices.
• Engage in discharge planning, hospice & palliative medicine consultations, and post-acute care coordination.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including emergency medicine, hospital medicine, occupational health, and primary care to ensure comprehensive patient management.

Experience

• Prior hospital experience with a focus on cardiothoracic or critical care settings is required.
• Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner is essential; telehealth experience is a plus.
• Critical care experience including ICU or PICU settings is highly desirable.
• Experience with advanced procedures such as cardiac catheterization, ventilator management, and airway management is preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT coding for procedures and ICD coding for diagnoses is necessary for accurate documentation.
• Familiarity with hospital protocols related to infection control, aseptic technique, and emergency response procedures.
• Proven ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations efficiently in fast-paced environments.
• Strong understanding of physiology knowledge relevant to cardiothoracic conditions along with basic life support certification. Pay: $117,218.05 – $141,165.83 per year
