Duties

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
• Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions, immunizations, and specialized treatments like botulinum toxin therapy.
• Manage complex clinical procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, ventilator management, and ostomy care while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
• Coordinate patient care plans through case management strategies, discharge planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in settings like hospitals (including Level I & II trauma centers), outpatient clinics, hospice & palliative medicine units, or long-term care facilities.
• Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy, and utilizing diagnostic tools like sonography or medical imaging when necessary.
• Provide critical care support in ICU or trauma medicine environments; manage acute pain cases and respond effectively during triage or emergency room situations.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain meticulous medical documentation to support ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and accurate medical records management.
• Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, family planning, or nutrition to promote wellness and informed decision-making.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license with current registration in the applicable state or region.
• Proven experience in diverse clinical settings such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU/trauma centers (Level I & II), outpatient clinics, or long-term care facilities including nursing homes and assisted living communities.
• Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or similar platforms; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding; laboratory experience; and medical documentation standards.
• Strong knowledge of physiology principles related to patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation; skilled in airway management and medication administration including IV insertion and aseptic techniques.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities; expertise in dementia or Alzheimer’s/dementia care is highly valued.
• Ability to perform advanced procedures such as suturing, catheterization (urinary or vascular), sterile processing techniques, and infection control protocols.
• Critical care experience preferred—especially ICU or trauma medicine—and familiarity with emergency room procedures including triage.
• Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments like urgent care or hospital settings.
