Part-Time Physician Assistant – Pain Medicine

Join a growing outpatient pain medicine practice as a part-time Physician Assistant independent contract. This is a no-benefits position with flexible scheduling. You may set your hours, though a mix of morning and afternoon clinic hours is preferred, such as 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. You are paid monthly via a 1099.

The role may involve rotating one day per week in Stockton and Modesto, with Sacramento added depending on volume. For example, the 1st Saturday is Stockton, the 2nd Saturday is Modesto, the 3rd Saturday is Sacramento and so on. As patient volume grows, there may also be an opportunity to add telehealth visits from home paid at the same rate.You choose the day of the week you work. If volume grows, you can increase hours.

This is a no-opioid practice with a streamlined workflow. The note is prepped for you, pain management decisions are efficient, and there is little to no disability writing. You will be paid even if patients do not show, and the pace is comfortable, though you should expect to see about one patient every 15 minutes.

Spanish bilingual skills are a plus. Weekend availability is a plus. You having your own malpractice is a plus. Experience in orthopedics, PM&R, or Pain Medicine is preferred. Candidates should also be comfortable using Google Docs and communicating clearly through WhatsApp.

Typical patient is new patient who is relatively younger and healthy. Most common diagnoses include cervical whiplash, cervical/lumbar radiculopathy, and shoulder/knee pain. You are expected to manage conservative care referrals (ie PT, chiro, massage therapy), imaging, and discuss r/b/a for epidurals, joint injections, and facet injections. MRI results will be provided to you. The supervising physician is remote and available by phone and text. You just review the HPI, put in the PE, and select from list of most common recommendations. You will not call in meds, do prior auths, schedule visits, or put in orders. There is a tremendous amount of staff to assist with non-clinical responsibilities.

This is an expansion so you are not inheriting patients. The practice is hiring due to successful growth in other markets. Less than 5 patients per day are seen now and expected growth is in approximately 6 months.

Responsibilities include evaluating patients, documenting focused exams, and using recommended clear treatment plans. This is a very tech focused practice – patients text and call to check in and you greet them. No inbox. No call. No injections to be done. Must be willing to commit with a 90 day notice of resignation. Supervising physician has clean medical license and DEA. You are expected to have your own laptop. No in person MA/receptionist is on site. You may work for another company/organization. You are responsible for your own licensing, DEA, CME and other legal requirements. There are various onboarding meetings over 1-2 to introduce you to the physician, the staff, and the note writing process.

Pay: $120.00 per hour
