Kidney Care Center Nephrology practice in Little Rock, Arkansas is seeking a Physician Assistant with ACUTE CARE experience to join our established team.

CURRENT Arkansas license required. Salary base $95,000.00 + DOE.

This position will provide direct patient care to patients through comprehensive patient assessment, planning, treatment, evaluation, performing diagnostic and therapeutic inpatient and outpatient care and provide patient, family, and staff education. Care of patients takes place under physician supervision.

Experience in one or more of the following specialties: acute care, nephrology or outpatient dialysis is preferred, but we will train the right applicant. This position works closely with other healthcare professionals, so a positive attitude, willingness to learn, patience, problem-solving skills and communication ability are important.

Dialysis Rounds: Duties in an established, shared schedule rotation include managing hemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis patient. Assess, diagnose, and manage systems-related complications of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) therapy including anemia, hypertension, bone disease, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, and vascular access. Diagnose and manage episodic health problems of clients with ESRD. Evaluate progress and appropriateness of the plan of care. Encourage maximal rehabilitation through education and counseling. Perform annual physicals including health maintenance and preventative health counseling, prescribe, authorize refills and reconcile medications. Provide leadership to the clinical staff through education and consultation by serving as a role model and expert clinical resource in the nursing care of clients with ESRD. Assist the staff in preventing and treating complications of dialytic therapies. Coordinate continuity of care between the outpatient dialysis unit and other healthcare settings.

Hospital Responsibilities in an established, shared rotation: Perform services to include consults, and visits with appropriate clinical documentation and orders. You may assess the client and family discharge needs, participate in discharge planning. Provide leadership to the clinical staff, serving as a role model and an expert clinical resource concerning nursing care of clients with chronic kidney disease, ESRD, and acute renal failure. Coordinate continuity of care between the hospital and other healthcare settings. May collaborate with medical, nursing and other disciplines regarding plan of care, discharge planning, and follow-up.

· Candidate must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant accredited training program.

  • Proven experience as Physician Assistant in a clinic, hospital, ER or other setting
  • Expertise in acute and chronic care practices
  • Willingness to continue gaining knowledge and clinical experience

· Possession of a valid Arkansas license as a Physician Assistant-required.

· Maintains all CME requirements, current DEA license. ACLS Certified.

· Must possess valid Arkansas driver’s license.

· Office based clinics in Little Rock and N. Little Rock

· Dialysis Centers in Little Rock, N. Little Rock & Jacksonville

· Hospitals in Little Rock, N. Little Rock & Sherwood

· Full-time, M-F 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. with an established rotational weekend call schedule.
