Full Job Description

**Core Duties:**

The responsibilities of the position encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

– Deliver a comprehensive range of Physician Assistant services in both primary and specialty medical care, adhering to the scope of training and privileges conferred by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). This includes supervising and conducting general screenings, medical examinations, and patient care for routine, acute, and chronic conditions affecting all organ systems; administering immunizations; diagnosing, treating, and providing counseling to patients as warranted.

– Technically oversee and deliver care for a variety of diseases and injuries, including acute, chronic, and minor trauma. The role requires the ability to recognize emergency conditions to diagnose, prescribe treatment for, and manage diseases, disorders, and injuries, while appropriately referring more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel.

– Provide technical direction and instruction to other staff, deliver educational lectures, and participate in in-service training for personnel.

– Advocate for preventive care and health maintenance by facilitating annual physical examinations, promoting positive health behaviors, and encouraging self-care through both formal and individualized education and counseling.

– Prescribe medications and immunizations in accordance with established treatment protocols, as approved by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

– Accurately identify medical problems and determine appropriate interventions, which may include referral to a physician.

– Conduct specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with the established scope of practice.

– Foster collaborative relationships with physicians, nursing staff, and other health professionals to enhance and facilitate primary care services.

– Educate patients and their family members on healthy practices and the significance of personal responsibility in achieving wellness.

– Attend staff meetings to engage in case discussions, ongoing education, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

– Participate in the peer review process.

– Undertake specialized evaluations, including but not limited to Physical Health Assessments (PHA), Service History Physical Exams, and Separation History and Physical Examinations (SHPE) related to health assessments for non-flying personnel and sister service members assigned to the MTF.

– Review medical documentation to determine the eligibility of active-duty members for retraining, Special Duty assignments, both within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS), and conduct annual reviews in lieu of Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) support, ensuring compliance with applicable Department of Defense and Air Force policies and guidelines.

**Work Schedule:**

The work schedule will be established between 0700 and 1700 hours, Monday through Friday, and will include a one-hour uncompensated meal break as determined by the clinical department.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

– **Degree**: A Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies is required.- **Education**: Graduation from an accredited college or university, recognized by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, and acceptable to Headquarters United States Air Force/Surgeon General (HQ USAF/SG).- **Experience**: A minimum of 12 months of experience as a Physician Assistant is required.- **Certification**: Must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and maintain this certification throughout the duration of the task order.- **Licensure**: Possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant is mandatory.- **Security**: The ability to pass a government background check/security clearance is required.- **Life Support Certification**: A current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC) is necessary.
