Summary
This position assists the physicians in providing care to their patients in the office and serving as a resource for chemotherapy nurses and other staff who identify patients who need urgent care. Work is performed under the general direction of the Physician.
Position will require to see patients at our satellite clinic one day a week. Transportation is provided.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses and examines patients.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic lab and radiology.
- Plans and orders treatments.
- Writes history, physical, and orders for hospital admission.
- Communicates and consults with physicians regarding patients.
- Dictates notes for office visits letters for patients.
- Reviews pathology and records of new patients. Obtains missing information if needed.
- Identifies patients eligible for research trials in conjunction with MD and research staff.
- Evaluates patients with problems via phone nurse or chemotherapy nurse.
- Orders and interprets lab work for employees for safety monitoring.
- Provides continuity of care when a physician is out of the office.
- Interfaces with Medical Records, Front Desk, and Physicians and Nurses regarding patient’s charts, appointments, and patient treatment. Also interfaces with area hospitals to report patient condition.
- Respects the dignity and confidentiality of patients.
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
- Complies with clinic safety policy and procedures.
- Possesses effective communication skills that lend to a collaborative work environment.
- Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
- Assists with training and orientation of new employees as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
Oncology experience preferred and most be BLS certified.
Nurse Practitioner
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
- RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in Arizona
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Arizona
Physician Assistant
- Master’s degree and graduation from an accredited PA program
- Current NCCPA certification.
- Licensed to practice in the Arizona.
