Responsibilities
Responsible for performing patient evaluations, reviewing pretreatment teaching, recommending therapeutic intervention, counseling patients and families and collaborating with appropriate physicians to provide other appropriate direct care interventions within the scope of practice for physician’s assistants in collaboration with the ENT and Skull Base Surgery Physicians . Primary point of contact and assumes responsibilities for managing the care for patients. Assisting Surgical procedures including positioning and first assist closures.
- Takes 1st call afterhours and weekends included for all patients on service (ICU/Floor/Tele and after hours for answering service for clinic patients).
- One day/week call after 5pm is the minimum requirement of the position.
- One weekend call per/month which will include patient rounding or other patient care needs identified (e.g. admissions/discharges) by the on-call attending will begin at 5pm on Friday- 8am on Monday).
- Coverage for call is expected to be completed and submitted by the 20th day of the month prior to the start of the call period (beginning of the month).
- As necessary performs and documents; admissions, discharges, History/Physicals and Progress Notes.
- Performs in-patient hospital rounding and consults with physicians and coordinators daily
- Coordinate care with care management, assisting surgical procedures including positioning, and 1st assist closures.
- Provides care for scheduled head and neck cancer patients in hospital and in the clinic
- Coordinates care of surgical patients with RN oncology Coordinators.
- Participates in department reviews and academic activity, including department meetings and conferences.
- Coordinates head and neck surgery clinic operations with RNs and clinic staff.
- Participates in patient education and counseling.
- Ensures compliance/regulations for billing and documentation and other standards.
- Precepts/mentors/educates new clinic and hospital staff (i.e.; Boot Camps).
- Participates in outreach activities for program growth.
- Additional duties assigned by Medical Director or Management.

Qualifications
MINIMUM
Background in pre-med. Degree as a Physician Assistant.
Minimum 3 years clinical experience in related area or specialty field.
Must hold and maintain: (1) AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants License, (2) NCCPA – National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant, (3) Valid DEA registration, (4) American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and (5) American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider.
Pay Range $56.85 – $95.47/hour
