The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare providers to deliver high-quality obstetric and gynecological care to women across the lifespan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in women’s health, excellent clinical skills, and a commitment to providing patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Evaluation and Management: Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and gynecological screenings for women of all ages. Diagnose and treat acute and chronic health conditions, including gynecological disorders, reproductive health issues, and menopausal symptoms.
- Obstetric and Gynecological Care: Perform gynecological examinations, including pelvic exams, breast exams, and Pap smears, to screen for gynecological conditions and reproductive health issues. Provide prenatal care for pregnant patients, including prenatal assessments, screenings, and education.
- Family Planning and Contraceptive Counseling: Provide counseling and education on contraceptive options, fertility awareness methods, and family planning services to women and couples. Perform contraceptive procedures, such as intrauterine device (IUD) insertions and contraceptive implant insertions, as well as counseling on abortion options and referrals as appropriate.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, referrals, and follow-up services. Communicate effectively with patients regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and preventive care measures.
- Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients on women’s health topics, preventive care measures, and lifestyle modifications to promote optimal health and wellness. Provide counseling and support to patients regarding reproductive health, sexuality, menopause, and other women’s health issues.
- Minor Procedures and Surgical Assistance: Assist in minor procedures and surgeries, including gynecological procedures, obstetric deliveries, and postoperative care. Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including patient education and follow-up.
- Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including electronic health records (EHR), patient charts, and documentation of patient encounters. Ensure completeness and accuracy of medical records in accordance with practice protocols and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Arizona.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in women’s health or OBGYN.
- Strong clinical skills, including proficiency in conducting health assessments, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions, and performing gynecological examinations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Commitment to providing patient-centered care, promoting women’s health and wellness, and adhering to evidence-based practice guidelines.
